Baghdad, Washington sign MoU on Iraq’s water issue

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Iraq and the United States regarding the water file in Iraq. Mahdi Rashid, Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Ambassador to support the decision to plan for water resources in Iraq. This was along the sidelines of the Baghdad 2nd International Water Conference.

Baghdad, Washington sign MoU on Iraq's water issueThe conference, which was inaugurated under the slogan (Water and Climate Changes) under the patronage of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, was attended by participants from Arab and foreign countries. A key focus of the conference is on sustainable development of water resources under climate change, coordination and cooperation with adjacent countries, and the impact of climate change on water resources.

Furthermore, the conference will focus on key topics such as overcoming water scarcity, maintaining surface and ground water, protecting biodiversity, and implementing water policies in order to counteract the effects of climate change and global warming.
